Kansas man arrested charged in plot to explode car bomb at military base
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) A 20 year-old man has been arrested in Kansas, following an FBI sting operation.
The man was charged with attempting to detonate a bomb at the Fort Riley Army base and was also accused of trying to provide material support to the terrorist gang called Daesh.
John T. Booker Jr, was arrested as part of a lengthy FBI investigation. Federal authorities said he was arrested near the army base in Manhattan, Kansas, as he completed final preparations to detonate the bomb, which had, in fact, been rendered inert while he was under FBI surveillance.
Prosecutors said Booker repeatedly stated he wanted to engage in violent jihad on behalf of Daesh. He became an Army recruit and said he intended to commit an insider attack against American soldiers.
