Hyundai Motor US sales up 106 percent Q1


(MENAFN) Data showed that Hyundai Motor Group sales of luxury vehicles in the US more than doubled in the January-March period, marking a quarterly record-high, Yonhap News reported.

The combined sales of Hyundai Motor Co.'s premium Genesis and Equus, and Kia Motors Inc.'s K9 in the US went up 106 percent in the first quarter to 7,566 units, compared to 3,676 units on-year.

Therefore, the market share of the three luxury sedans also came to 10.4 percent in the high-end segment, hovering above the automotive group's combined share of 7.9 percent.

In terms of models, the Genesis car was the best seller among the three with 6,656 units sold, soaring from 2,653 units on-year. The Equus and K9 sold 641 units and 269 units, respectively.
