Alcoa's Australian unit signs USD500m gas deal


(MENAFN) US Alcoa's concluded a USD500 million gas deal through its Australian subsidiary; a deal that includes a supply of natural gas for alumina that will aid the company in its profits, Law 360 reported.

The signing was with a syndicate of private equity investors who are set to purchase the energy assets of Apache Corp.'s Australia. Under the deal, Alcoa will get a twelve-year supply of gas.

Alcoa said that through this deal, which is added to multiple other transactions, the firm now will own almost 75 percent of its Western Australia natural gas needs to substitute the expiring contracts.
