Prime minister receives Iraqi Defense Minister


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Abdullah Ensour, on Wednesday, received Iraqi Defense Minister, Khaled Al-Obeidi and his accompanying delegation.

Al-Obeidi briefed Ensour on the latest developments in Iraq and the Iraqi government's efforts to fight terrorism and terrorist organizations in several Iraqi cities, and achievements by the Iraqi forces in that regard.

The prime minister said that Jordan has always been with the state of Iraq, and not with a particular regime, pointing out that Jordan has never interfered in Iraqi affairs.

Ensour also stressed Jordan's keenness to strengthen its relations with Iraq in the interests of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.

The Iraqi defense minister expressed appreciation for Jordan's support to Iraq in these difficult circumstances.

He also offered condolences on behalf of the Iraqi government, for the martyrdom of Lt. Colonel pilot Ibrahim Hassan Hassouna and the Iraqi student pilot Laith Ali Nasser.

Al-Obeidi praised Civil Defence Sergeant Omar Balawneh heroic rescue of two Iraqi children at the Dead Sea recently, stressing that this heroic action is appreciated by the government and the Iraqi people.
