NBO chairman unveils new initiativeto inspire future Omani entrepreneurs


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The chairman of National Bank of Oman Mohammed Mahfoodh al Ardhi addressed students at the University of Nizwa on Tuesday and shared his career journey and life experiences with them in an effort to inspire students to pursue their career aspirations and goals.

Ardhi also launched the 'NBO's Innovation in SME' award a new competition designed to inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs in the sultanate which has been created to discover and then develop the best new business idea in Oman.

Open to all current full-time undergraduate university students the competition can be entered by individuals and teams of up to three people. They have until May 10 to submit an original business idea related to any sector of the economy.

The individual or team with the most innovative and commercially promising idea will receive 'NBO's Innovation in SME' award and take home a RO10000 cash prize to help them develop their business further. They will also join National Bank of Oman's Tijarati SME mentoring programme and be given access to the bank's Academy of Excellence.

Ardhi said 'NBO continues to contribute significantly to the sultanate's diversification strategy through our unwavering support of entrepreneurs and SMEs. The 'NBO's Innovation in SME' award reflects our belief in the potential of young Omanis to conceptualise and develop new businesses with the potential to create jobs.'
