Police arrest thief with cash in Qatar

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Police have arrested an Iranian visitor to the country who used to steal money from the vehicles of clients of an exchange house, local daily Arrayah reported yesterday.

The man, who was on a visit visa, used to hang around the exchange house and look for customers who would leave cash in their vehicles at the parking area. He then would break the front glass of the vehicle and steal the money.

The police were informed after theft cases became more frequent.

In a trap to catch the thief red-handed, an undercover police officer posing as a customer put a bag of cash in his vehicle.

The thief as usual broke into the car and started to flee with the cash, only to be surrounded by the police.

The man was referred to the Public Prosecution. During the investigation, he admitted to his crime.

He is now under trial at the Doha criminal court.
