The magazine generally covers issues related to sea cargo cruises ports etc. According to the magazine's editor the time and labour spent on printing the magazine is more or less the same as that of a standard publication.

He added that though he is bearing the extra cost to publish the magazine which is barely making any profit the endeavour would augur well for the future. 'The world is gradually going green. In the coming years people will be more concerned about the environment. And this magazine is the first step in that direction. This is our way of showing concern for our environment and the country' said Balushi.

He hopes that with more people choosing to opt for environmental-friendly ventures like his the cost of publishing such magazines will reduce significantly in the near future.

Speaking about the new initiative Ali Jameel al Farsi an environmentalist and chairman of Bird Fanciers Association said 'It is a wonderful idea to have a magazine in the country that uses recycled paper. Every year we lose millions of trees. Such a magazine will pave the way for a better and constructive idea to save the planet.'

Bahhar which is two editions down has already created ripples among members of the Environment Society of Oman (ESO) and Sohar Port who have appreciated Balushi's effort. Its last edition was published in February.

The magazine primarily focuses on events regulations logistics interviews technological updates and businesses. It also deals with issues related to the MARPOL Convention - the main international convention covering prevention of pollution of the marine environment by ships from operational or accidental causes.
