Shell signs new social initiative contracts to train 103 Omanis


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Shell Development Oman (SDO) recently held a signing ceremony at its office in Mina al Fahal for its Training for Employment initiative to train 103 young Omanis.

Training agreements worth RO354600 were signed by Chris Breeze Shell's country chairman in Oman Musallam al Mandhari CEO of the Oman Association for Petroleum Services (OPAL) Salim Saleh al Siyabi managing director of the Technical & Administrative Training Institute (TATI) and Lawrence Alva CEO of the National Training Institute (NTI).

The training will provide young Omanis with vocational training in a range of skills including non-destructive testing and welding. As part of this social investment initiative SDO works closely with OPAL to secure available jobs in the marketplace and collaborates with prospective employers to train suitable candidates for these jobs. 

Upon successful course completion trainees are guaranteed employment and competitive salaries in reputable private sector establishments.

The agreements will provide six training programmes: Pipe Fitter Training Programme Safety Officer Training Programme Welder Training Programme Grinder Training Programme Mechanical Maintenance Training Programme and Non-Destructive Testing Training Programme.

All these training programmes will be funded by Shell Development Oman and conducted under the direct supervision of OPAL.
