Turkey deports Russians who tried to cross into Syria


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Two Russian citizens who were arrested in Turkey's southeastern province of Gaziantep while illegally attempting to cross into Syria have been deported, Turkish officials have said.

The two suspects, identified as G.R. and T.I., were believed to have been trying to join militants fighting in Syria when they were apprehended on Tuesday, according to a statement issued by Gaziantep Governorate.

Thousands of foreign fighters from all over the world are believed to have joined terrorist organizations, including Daesh, in Syria and Iraq.

Turkey shares an 800 kilometer-long border with Syria.
