Saudi- Domestic workers cannot do work outside their contracts
(MENAFN- Arab News) The director of the Ministry of Labor in Eastern Province Mohammed Al-Faleh has once again emphasized that the labor regulations ban the employment of domestic workers at female workshops while also banning them from being put to work in roles outside of their actual sponsorship contracts.
It has been made known that there are some employers who assign domestic workers especially housemaids to do other jobs that are not covered in their contracts which is a clear violation of the domestic labor regulations according to the Cabinet's long-standing decision.
Al-Faleh said in a press statement on Tuesday that the Ministry of Labor will apply punishments against employers who assign their domestic workers tasks that fall outside of their contracts.
However domestic workers who are working without having officially transferred their sponsorship to their new employers will be referred to the Ministry of Interior to complete deportation procedures according to the article 39 of labor regulations which bans expatriate workers from working with others employers who are not their sponsors.
Al-Faleh also clarified that the ministry is ready to issue visas for cleaning staff to work in female only roles in accordance with the Saudization system pointing out that employers can obtain foreign worker visa's when they meet Saudization requirements.
