Over 100 kilos hashish more than 100000 drug pills seized


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY April 7 (KUNA): The General Administration of Customs announced Tuesday the seizure of a large quantity of narcotic substances at Al-Abdaly border crossing coming from Iraq containing around 108.5 kilograms of hashish and more than 100000 narcotic pills. 'There has been an increase in activity by drug traffickers to smuggle large and destructive substances to the country through various means and in various ways' Customs' Director General Khaled Al-Saif told KUNA. Al-Saif said that 'customs officers will be vigilent for any smuggling operation to protect the nation from everything that would adversely affect our society' praising customs officials for their response to this current ongoing activities.

Liquor seized: A Kuwaiti citizen was arrested at Kuwait International Airport in possession of three bottles of imported liquor and a small sachet containing cocaine says Al-Seyassah. According to sources customs officers found the items in a bag belonging to the Kuwaiti citizen. He was arrested and referred with the items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against him.

Syrian arrested: A Syrian expatriate was arrested in Kuwait City in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. According to security sources Capital securitymen were patrolling Kuwait citizen when they stopped a Syrian expatriate and checked him to find the drugs and drug paraphernalia. When questioned he confessed that the drugs belonged to him for consumption. He was arrested and referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against him.

'Material explosive': Kuwait's General Administration for Customs in a final report said after examining the material seized from a vessel coming from Iran contained a chemical substance which is used for cleaning metals reports Annahar daily quoting sources. The daily added the chemical is highly inflammable and dangerous and can be used for manufacturing explosives and bombs if mixed with other materials. The sources said the barrel was found hidden under pottery coming from Iran in the name of a Kuwaiti company. The Iranian captain of the ship was interrogated by the State Security and the investigation proved he has nothing to do with any issues or terrorist operations.

Suicide attempted: A member of the National Guard has been referred to the Criminal Investigations Department for attempting to commit suicide and firing at the house of a policeman with a Kalashnikov rifle over differences between them reports Al-Rai daily. According to a security source police acting on information rushed to the area and found someone threatening to commit suicide and shooting at one of the houses so they calmed down the person and controlled him. Later the police found out the suspect worked for the National Guard and the person he was threatening to kill and shooting at the house belonged to a policeman. A case of possessing unlicensed weapons has been registered against the National Guardsman.

Police threatened: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti for possessing an unlicensed gun and threatening to shoot at the police reports Al-Shahed daily.
