Kuwait signs two MoUs with Iraq on oil & gas: KPC official

KUWAIT CITY March 30 (KUNA): Kuwait and Iraq have signed two memorandums of understanding regarding oil fields on their shared border and the possibility of Kuwait importing natural gas from Iraq an official spokesperson for Kuwait Petroleum Corp (KPC) said on Monday. In a press statement Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Managing Director of Petroleum Services for state-owned KPC said the two memos were the fruits of talks between both Kuwaiti and Iraqi officials yesterday and today. The Kuwaiti side to the talks that led to the signing of the memos was headed by Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil Ali Sabt Bin Ali and the Iraqi side by Iraqi Oil Ministry senior official Fayyadh Hassan Nema said the statement. The bilateral talks came at the behest of both countries seeking cooperation on mutual issues among them developing economic relations and affirming ties of friendship said the statement. It added that Sheikh Talal noted that signing the memos aimed among other things to facilitate bilateral steps at engendering beneficial contacts that would reflect positively on the cooperation of both countries in fields deemed of benefit for both sides.
