Fishing to resume as weather improves in Qatar

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar's fishermen who were forced to stay away from the sea over the past few days due to adverse weather conditions will resume their activities on Tuesday.

Fishermen groups told Gulf Times that almost 95% of their boats remained berthed along the fishing harbours in Doha, Wakra, Dukhan, Ruwais and Al Khor since last Wednesday when an unprecedented sandstorm lashed Qatar, accompanied by winds of 45knots strength.

"The latest forecast from the Meteorology Department is that weather would be somewhat good in the coming days and no caution is served specifically for the fishermen," said a senior member of the fishermen community.

The authorities had recently imposed a restriction of three trips per month for each fishing vessel, in view of the onset of the fish breeding season. A fishing boat cannot stay in the sea for more than four days during each trip.
