Moscow says in touch with Riyadh for citizen evacuation
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said here on Monday his country was making contacts with Saudi Arabia to ensure the security of Russian planes that evacuate citizens from Yemen.
"We maintain contact with our partners un Saudi Arabia that help ensure security of each flight [of Russian planes to Yemen]," Lavrov told a news conference. "This is so far done in a manual mode. We have managed to avoid any unpleasant incidents so far." But, he called on all parties involved in the Yemeni conflict to stop hostilities and return to the search for national conciliation ways.
"Everybody should stop fighting and return to the process for the achievement of national conciliation in Yemen," he said.
The Russian foreign minister also hoped that the UN Security Council (UNSC) will support Moscow's humanitarian initiative for Yemen.
