Kuwait- 'Nobody allowed to keep illegal weapons'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY April 6: Lieutenant Colonel Nayef Al-Hassawi Director of the Farwaniya Security Department and head of weapons collection team has rubbished rumors which say the Interior Ministry is allowing people to hold on to their weapons because of the situation in the regions and the unstable security situation in the neighboring state reports Al-Qabas daily. He said such rumors hold no water. He asserted the State will not accept the idea of the citizens holding on to their weapons under any circumstances. Al-Hassawi said there is no link between the regional situation and the 'safe' situation on the home front. He also warned those who trade in arms and called on the people to make use of the opportunity to hand in their weapons before the deadline expires. He disclosed the Ministry of Interior is well aware of people who possess arms and ammunition. He added after the end of the grace period tough punishment awaits those who have failed to surrender their weapons in the form of 10 years imprisonment and KD 50000 fine.

Bag-snatchers caught: The Hawalli police have arrested three juveniles for snatching handbags of female shoppers reports Al-Rai daily. A security source said several Kuwaiti women filed complaints with the Nugra Police Station when the suspects snatched their handbags while shopping in the area commercial complexes. The arrest came when one of the suspects sold a stolen cell phone to an Egyptian man. Following the arrest the thief then gave the name of his two accomplices. During interrogation they admitted to committing nine thefts. They have been handed over to the Juvenile Prosecution.

Arab man beaten: An unidentified Arab was mercilessly beaten and handed over to the Sabah Al-Nasser Police Station for attempting to molest a young Kuwaiti woman inside the Farwaniya Police Station reports Al- Anba daily. A video clip posted on the social media website shows the suspect wrestled to the ground after the incident beaten and handed over to the police. The Al-Rai daily said the youth attempted to molest the woman and she screamed for help following which visitors and military personnel who happened to be there assaulted him.

Kuwaiti assaulted: Police are looking for five people for kidnapping and assaulting a Kuwaiti over an earlier dispute reports Al-Rai daily. According to a security source the victim's wife called the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry when she saw the men drive off with her husband from a suburb of Zahra. After a short time the husband returned home with bruises on his body and filed a complaint with the police.
