UAE participates in joint Arab financial institutions meetings


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) The United Arab Emirates is participating in the annual meetings of the joint Arab financial institutions, being hosted by Kuwait from tomorrow.

Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, will head the UAE's delegation, comprising Mubarak Rashid Al Mansouri, UAE Central Bank Governor, Younis Haji Al Khoori, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and a number of experts and representatives of the Finance Ministry and the UAE Central Bank.

In addition to these meetings, Al Tayer will chair the Board of Governors meeting of the Arab Monetary Fund in its current session.

Commenting on the occasion, Al Tayer highlighted the UAE's keenness on supporting the economic development of Arab countries, either directly or through joint Arab financial institutions.

He added, "Taking into consideration the economic, social and developmental challenges witnessed by the region, the joint Arab financial institutions should double their efforts, mobilise more resources and capabilities, and continue to provide various types of financing to the vital development and investment projects with strategic dimensions to enhance and social growth as well as sustainable development for the Arab region."
