France to accelerate GDP growth in H1

(MENAFN) France is expected to accelerate its gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the first half of the year, driven by falling oil prices and euro depreciation, Xinhua reported.

Statistics agency Insee has revised up its growth forecasts for the first quarter of 2015 to 0.4 percent from a previous 0.3 percent, due to the extra purchasing power on more0than-expected oil drop.

Household consumption will grow by 0.6 percent in the January-March period of 2015 and by 0.3 percent in the second quarter "mainly due to a bigger rebound in energy consumption," Insee estimated.

Despite an expected positive picture of growth over the first six months of the year, Insee said high unemployment was still challenging economic recovery in the eurozone's second largest economy.
