(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Foreign Ministry has organised its first forum for the students dispatched by the ministry to study in the United States.
Based on instruction by HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, the forum, which was held in Los Angeles, seeks to identify issues and obstacles facing the students in order to find solutions to them, as well as to discuss the follow-up and co-ordination mechanisms with universities where they are studying.
The Director of the Ministry's Human Resources Department Abdulaziz Abdul Qader al-Ahmad, while conveying the greeting of the Foreign Minister to the students, underlined the attention given by the ministry to the students in the United States in order to meet their needs and overcome the difficulties that they may face.
Ambassador al-Ahmad added that Qatar, under the leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, attaches great importance to the acquisition of knowledge as well as to education as it is the first pillar of the development.
Qatar's Ambassador to the United States Mohamed bin Jaham al-Kuwari told the students that the doors of the embassy and consulate are open to them at any time to discuss with them their academic issues and other relevant issues.
The Consul General of Qatar in Los Angeles Khaled bin Yousif al-Sada expressed the consulate's readiness to co-operation with students to organise training courses in the Qatari diplomatic missions accredited to the United States and brief them on the services provided by the consulate to them.
During the forum, the students raised a number of issues with the officials who promised to overcome the obstacles facing them.
The students also expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Foreign Ministry's efforts in following up their affairs and its promises to overcome the obstacles that might face them.
The forum is part of a series of meetings organised by the Foreign Ministry for around 200 students on scholarships. They are studying in the US, the UK, France, Canada, Australia and Arab countries.
