Qatari Ashghal HQ lit up in blue

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) As part of supporting national initiatives, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) participated in a humanitarian campaign to promote World Autism Awareness Day last Thursday.

In collaboration with ministries, government bodies, and public institutions in the State of Qatar, Ashghal lit up its headquarters in blue. This move aimed at raising public awareness about autism, and supporting education programmes for the patients.

The annual observation of the World Autism Day is the outcome of Qatar's suggestion to recognise April 2 as "World Autism Awareness Day" which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 18, 2007.

Ashghal's decision comes in solidarity with the global "Light it up Blue'' campaign organised by the non-profit organisation "Autism Speaks". This included lighting up buildings and landmarks around the world in blue to increase social awareness with regards to the developmental disorder.
