With the improvement of economic conditions these trends saw a reduced impact in 2014 and helped adult mouth care to see a slower decline in both volume and current value terms.

Competitive Landscape

The success of Oraldine ensured the leadership of adult mouth care for McNeil Iberica (Spanish subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson) which held a 66% share of sales in value terms. Laboratorios Viñas followed with a 15% share (distributor of the popular brands Dentispray and Oralsone) and was some distance ahead of the third player Pelayo with a 3% share.

Industry Prospects

Between 2014 and 2019 adult mouth care is expected to marginally increase to reach value sales of €31 million at the end of the forecast period. This slightly better performance compared to the review period will mostly be driven by consumers going back to branded products due to the improvement of economic conditions and higher disposable incomes among the Spanish population.
