US Secretary of State phones GCC FMs


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) US Secretary of State John Kerry called on Friday GCC foreign ministers briefing them on the recent political framework agreement between the P5+1 group and Iran.

The talks highlighted the recently reached framework agreement between the P5+1 group and Iran, which covered talks on the latter nuclear program, GCC Secretariat General said in a statement, a copy sent to KUNA.

The statement said that Kerry briefed the foreign ministers on the agreement and asserted on US commitment to GCC countries' security and stability.

The statement noted on the US administration wishes to boost consultation and coordination with GCC countries to maintain cooperation, security, and stability of this vital region.

Iran and the six world powers agreed on a framework of a potentially historic deal aimed at curbing Tehran's nuclear program, at end of marathon talks in the Swiss city of Lausanne on Thursday.

Iran has agreed to curtail its nuclear program in return for the lifting of sanctions.
