Algeria evacuates 160 nationals, Arabs

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra announced Sunday the repatriation of 160 Algerian and a number of Arab nationals from Yemen due to security conditions.

Lamamra said in statement that 160 Algerians, 40 Tunisians, 15 Mauritanians, eight Libyans, three Moroccans and one Palestinian were evacuated from Yemen and arrived in Algiers on board an aircraft of Air Algeria Company.

Algeria managed to evacuate the nationals in spite of difficult security and weather conditions, the minister added.

Answering a question regarding similar operations, he said: "All the Algerians living in Yemen and having expressed the will to return home have been repatriated. Algeria remains mobilized to protect its citizens wherever they are." Lamamra and Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women's Condition Mounia Meslem greeted those who arrived at Algiers International Airport.
