UAE- Khalid Lagoon road to be partially closed from today


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The arterial road which has seen three phases of development work will be partially blocked from the National Bank of Abu Dhabi to the Central Market for 30 days.

Sharjah — The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) will continue repair works of the Khalid Lagoon Corniche road parallel to the Majaz-1 area.

The arterial road which has seen three phases of development work will be partially blocked from the National Bank of Abu Dhabi to the Central Market for 30 days according to a senior official.

Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Al Hajiri Director of the SRTA for Roads Affairs said the partial closure will be effective from today till May 5. At the end of these repair works the third and final phase for developing the road will be completed.

“The maintenance works spans three lanes which are 10.95m wide whereas the traffic flow shall be diverted to the direction opposite the Khalid Lagoon where four lanes two in each direction will be opened from the National Bank of Abu Dhabi to the Central Market roundabout.”

That part of the road and all U-turns and side parking spaces will be completely blocked in collaboration with the Sharjah Police he said.

“Part of the asphalt layer will be removed relaid and marked while some amendments including more spacious U-turns and new speed humps controlled with traffic signals will be introduced.”

Pedestrian crossings and overpasses will be built up to the latest standards to boost traffic flow curb accidents and ensure road users’ safety he stated.

Al Hajiri said the project is in pursuance of the instructions of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
