Saudi- Schools in border areas will remain closed


(MENAFN- Arab News) Jazan Education Department Director Eissa bin Ahmad Al-Hakami extended the period of suspension of classes at all schools located on or near the Saudi-Yemeni border.
'However all teachers will be required to work from the offices of the Education Directorate starting Sunday' he said.
The decision to suspend classes was taken to protect students and teachers following the visit of Education Minister Azzam Al-Dakhil to a number of schools in the border region last week.
Al-Hakami did not reveal any date for the resumption classes in these areas. The decision is applicable to 134 schools in the border region.
The Education Department in Sebia decided to extend the suspension of classes at 49 schools in the Bani Malik and Fifa areas for a week starting Sunday.
According to Sebia Education Department Director Ahmed bin Ali Al-Rabeeah the suspension is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of employees and students in the border areas.
'Education authorities in Jazan accord top priority to the safety of students and teachers' he said. 'The teachers will continue to carry out their educational work until their schools resume classes' Abdulah Al-Zahrani a teacher at a public school in Jazan told Arab News.
