Ashghal Participates In Humanitarian Campaign To Promote Autism Awareness

(MENAFN- QNA) The Public Works Authority 'Ashghal' has participated in the humanitarian campaign to promote World Autism Awareness Day on 2 April, organized by the State of Qatar for the 8th consecutive year.

In collaboration with ministries, government bodies, and public institutions in the State of Qatar, the Ashghal lit up its headquarters in blue. This move aimed at raising public awareness about autism, and supporting education programs for the patients.

The annual observation of the World Autism Day is the outcome of Qatar’s suggestion to recognize April 2nd of each year as "World Autism Awareness Day" (WAAD) which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 18th of December 2007.

This decision comes in solidarity with the global "Light it up Blue" campaign organized by the non-profit organization "Autism Speaks". This included lighting up buildings and landmarks around the world in blue to increase social awareness with regards to this developmental disorder.

The Public Works Authority, 'Ashghal' seeks to enhance its participation in supporting Qatar's efforts and initiatives to promote social awareness on various important issues as well as to develop health, education, and urban sectors as part of the authority's social and corporate responsibility.
