Australia's Woodside Petroleum buys USD2.8b Apache assets


(MENAFN) Woodside Petroleum, the Australian petroleum exploration and production company, finalized a USD2.81 billion purchase of LNG and oil assets owned by Apache Corporation in Australia, The Australian Financial Review reported.

The largest operator of oil and gas production in Australia added another USD854 million contract, which includes Canadian interests. Under the deal, Woodside is set to come out as a 13 percent partner in Wheatstone's USD29 billion liquefied natural gas venture.

The Canadian interest, which is set for closure next week, includes an adjustment of USD354 million, giving a transparent unprecedented assessment for the Canadian assets, of around USD500 million.
