(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Netherlands has offered training opportunities to Oman in the fields of logistics and statistics. The offer for the training programme was discussed at a roundtable on trade facilitation at the Grand Hyatt Muscat on Wednesday.
Led by H E Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Salim al Futaisi Minister of Transport and Communications and Liliane Ploumen Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation the Netherlands the discussion was also attended by Dutch and Omani officials. H E Futaisi said the Netherlands was a key partner to help Oman develop its logistics sector.
"Oman is promoting logistics to be one of the important sectors in the country so we are initiating a dialogue and a relationship programme with Holland to support us in developing the logistics in the country' he said. As part of the offer the training programme in logistics will be conducted in conjunction with the Ministry of Transport and Communications while the one in statistics will be conducted for the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
According to Liliane the discussions marked an important step for the future. "Data is one of the key components to becoming a global hub as Oman aspires to be and we are very much eager to share our learnings with you and in turn also learn from you. We hope you will see it as a token of our friendship. "Today we also make a strong commitment to not only have historical ties but also to build on the future' she said.
'We very much look forward to consolidating that partnership.' She also hoped for cooperation in the fields of agriculture and renewable energy to continue. Dutch officials also visited the Port of Sohar on Wednesday stated a press release.
The Dutch Port of Rotterdam Authority has been in charge of developing the industrial port in Sohar. An MoU has also been signed for collaboration in the fisheries sector between the Dutch Ekofish Company and the Omani Al Jood Trading and Contracting Company to further develop sustainable fishing fish processing and marketing procedures in support of the Omani small and medium-sized fisheries sector.
