DEWA graduates 3rd batch of Frontier leadership development programme

(MENAFNEditorial) Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has graduated the third batch of the Frontier leadership development programme, in collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government. The move supports the wise leadership's directives and DEWA's commitment to equip and develop National staff to take different leading roles. The graduation ceremony was attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources, Executive Vice Presidents, and DEWA staff.
The third batch of the Frontier leadership programme comprised 30 employees who underwent an 18-month training programme that included workshops, seminars, and specialised educational programmes in different fields. They also went on a field trip to the UK that included benchmarking and training workshops.

"DEWA regularly organises programmes and specialised workshops to train and prepare staff to be future leaders. This supports the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to train and develop UAE citizens to take responsibility of different leadership positions. It also supports the fourth generation of the government excellence system, which is a significant development in the government work. The programme underlines DEWA's strategy to keep up with the best practices and latest technologies. DEWA is committed to developing the skills and knowledge of its staff, and keep them updated in all areas, particularly in leadership, excellence, and technical and technological fields," said Al Tayer.

"DEWA has a clear strategy to develop and train National staff. We focus on providing them with the skills they need to meet the changing work requirements. To achieve this, we launch comprehensive training and developing programmes for our staff. We harness creativity and excellence in our daily work to improve performance, efficiency, and services to the highest level, at the local, regional, and global levels. This in turn, helps to achieve advanced levels of excellence and leadership, and enables us to provide excellent government services and adopt best international practices that support the excellence and competitiveness of the UAE and Dubai," added Al Tayer.

"At DEWA, we recognise the importance of preparing our staff to be future leaders. We are fully confident that the training programmes and honing the skills of our staff, especially UAE citizens, are important tools to enable them to keep up with rapid developments," said Al Akraf.

"DEWA's training programmes include the Women Leadership Programme, to develop the management and leadership skills of our female staff, the overseas training programme of Emirati staff in collaboration with RWE and First Solar, and sending staff to work and train at the International Renewable Energy Agency's (IRENA's) renewable energy projects in Germany. Other training schemes include Massar training programme for new Emirati staff at Customer Relations Department, onsite training, specialised and internationally-recognised accredited courses, and DEWA's Academym, which prepares a new generation of Emiratis in different professional disciplines," added Al Akraf.
