Mali- Tawhid & Jihad group claims Mali attack on Red Cross mission

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) The Tawhid and Jihad Group in West Africa (MUJAO) has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Red Cross mission in northern Mali, which left an aid worker dead.

"We have learnt that MUJAO has claimed the attack on our truck," Red Cross spokesperson Valey Mboah Nana told The Anadolu Agency on Tuesday.

A Red Cross worker was killed on Monday in an attack on an aid truck near the northern city of Gao.

Violence has been rampant in northern Mali since early 2015 amid increased attacks on security forces in the region.

In February of this year, a Red Cross team was kidnapped before its members were released a month later.
