Palestinian economy minister resigns

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Palestinian Economy Minister Mohamed Mustafa on Tuesday tendered his resignation.

According to a statement issued by the Economy Ministry, Mustafa, who is also a deputy prime minister, has resigned from his all posts.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has yet to accept the resignation.

Mustafa, however, has preempted Abbas' decision by thanking the presidency, the government and its ministers for affording him the opportunity to serve the Palestinian people.

Mustafa had served as a deputy premier for economic affairs in the last two governments.

Mustafa was appointed economy minister in June when the unity government was formed following a reconciliation agreement between rival groups Fatah and Hamas.
