(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Arab Parliament has lauded the Palestine's accession to the International Criminal Court (ICC), saying it is a significant move to put international pressure on Israel and hold it accountable for its war crimes against Palestinians.
In a news statement Wednesday, the President of the Arab Parliament Ahmad Al-Jarawan said that Palestine's joining of the ICC signals an important development in the ongoing struggle of Palestinians in the face of the Israeli "terrorist crimes".
He welcomed this move, stressing that it will help Palestinians hold "war criminals", Israel, accountable for their crimes against Palestine's people and territories.
The ICC membership will help also regain the rights of the Palestinian people, he noted.
Earlier, Palestine became the 123rd member of the ICC, 90 days after the Palestinian Authority's lodging of a declaration accepting the jurisdiction of the court.
Commenting on the move, the PA said it wanted "justice not vengeance" for Israeli crimes.
