Dubai — A salesman allegedly molested a 10-year-old girl at a toy shop inside a shopping centre the Court of First Instance heard on Wednesday. According to prosecution records the 40-year-old Indian had told investigators that the “devil had messed with his head” when he molested the girl.
He denied the charge in the court. He had however reportedly admitted to the charge in the police interrogation and prosecution investigation.
He reportedly confessed that he touched himself as he groped the girl an Arab several times and followed her between the shelves at the shop taking advantage of the fact that no one was around at the time.
A police sergeant said he arrested the accused around 9.40pm on January 20 at the shop in Deira after receiving the complaint.
The officer learnt from the girl that when she asked the salesman about some toys he touched her inappropriately.
She then ran to her mother outside the shop. Her father described her as being terrified when she narrated her experience.
The court adjourned the hearing to April 19.
