Kuwait- Proposal to allow employees to cash unused annual leave days

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY April 1: MP Sultan Al-Shimiri has presented a proposal to allow employees to cash their unused annual leave days provided the leave days do not exceed one month per year.

He pointed out this proposal will serve the interests of citizens as it will help them cope with the rising cost of living. He said the continuous increase in the prices of goods is considered a burden to citizens whose sources of income are no longer enough to meet their urgent or emergency needs.

In the meantime Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman MP Hamad Al-Harshani has praised the results of the third International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria. He attributed the tremendous success of the conference during which donors pledged more than $3.8 billion to the efforts exerted by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

He asserted such efforts reflected positively on the conference. He said the success of the conference is another page added to the achievement pages of the first and second conferences held in Kuwait in the past two years. He believes the fact that Kuwait serves as a venue for humanitarian conferences conveys a clear message of appreciation and respect for His Highness the Amir.

Also commenting on the conference MP Mohammed Al-Huwailah congratulated His Highness the Amir for the successful event; lauding the efforts of His Highness in supporting humanitarian and charitable works. He stressed this initiative reflects the keenness and contributions of His Highness in various areas of humanitarian work; thereby boosting Kuwait's international position.

Meanwhile MP Adnan AbdulSamad has emphasized the importance of the Financial Controllers Agency Law. He claimed some parties tried to prevent the passage of this law to disrupt the work of government agencies but their attempt proved futile. He cited rationalization of expenditures as one of the benefits of enforcing the law.

Speaking recently at his diwaniya in Dasman where the financial controllers gathered to celebrate passage of the law AbdulSamad said the financial controllers are being blamed whenever irregularities are uncovered. He disclosed many financial controllers attributed their poor performance to the lack of power. He cited an instance when a controller records a violation found in an investment then an official comes to evaluate it and push for approval of the investment according to his whims; indicating nine controllers have been interrogated because they refused to pay out investments in which irregularities were uncovered.

He clarified there are other institutions that will contribute to the implementation of administrative and financial reforms; such as the authority for evaluating investments worth billions Kuwait Investment Authority Development Fund Kuwait Petroleum and Public Institution for Social Security. He also underscored the need to ratify laws to monitor these institutions particularly their financial activities due to the high value of their investments.
