Ruling on April 15 in ex MPs Barrak Wa'alan protest case


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY April 1: The Court of Appeals set April 15 to rule on the case of ex-MPs Musallam Al-Barrak and Mubarak Al-Wa'alan who have been accused of participating in illegal public gathering and demonstration at the Banks Square. The Misdemeanor Section in the Court of First Instance previously fined Al-Barrak KD100 and acquitted Al-Wa'alan. In another development the Misdemeanor Section in the Court of Appeals adjourned until May 20 deliberations on a lawsuit filed against Al-Barrak Jam'aan Al-Harbash and seven other Kuwaitis for participating in an illegal public gathering in order to summon other defendants. The Public Prosecution charged the suspects with participating in illegal public gathering to breach public security at the Banks Square as well as defying dispersal orders issued by securitymen on duty at the time. The lower court imposed KD100 fine on each of them.

Hearing adjourned: The Criminal Court adjourned until May 5 the hearing on the case of 19 citizens including nine former MPs who have been accused of launching offensive statements against the Amiri entity by repeating the speech that ex-MP Musallam Al-Barrak delivered in Erada Square.

Pulling nationality: The Administrative Court presided over by Judge Ahmad Al-Daihan adjourned to May 5 the case of withdrawing the citizenship of Al- Barghash family until the Fatwa and Legislation Affairs submits the file with decision to withdraw the family's citizenship. Attorney Al-Homaidi Al-Subai'e refuted rumors saying his client forged the citizenship and naturalized through his uncle
