(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY March 14: Ministry of Interior is keen on enforcing the law and to allow non-Muslims to perform their religious rites smoothly reports Al-Rai daily quoting security sources.
This came in response to complaints by visitors to the Catholic Church in Kuwait who are dissatisfied about the acts of traffic officers that registered traffic violations against them and impounded their cars (95 cars) and referred to relevant authorities because they parked their cars in 'No Parking' areas at ten o'clock yesterday morning during the weekly Mass observed at the Catholic Church in Kuwait City.
They said several motorists stopped at the entrance of the church for their families to get down before parking their cars in the assigned places. It was then the traffic police registered violations against them and impounded about 30 cars and towed them to the garages in Shuwaikh noting the parish priest Father Raymond tried in vain to intervene.
Security sources reported the procedures followed by the traffic police against violators was in line with application of the law and to provide comfort for those going to the place of worship indicating they only impounded cars that were blocking the road to make it easy for others to pass.
Meanwhile Director of European Affairs Department at the Foreign Ministry Waleed Al Khubaizi said Kuwait has no racist laws as the country allows people to perform all religious rituals. He noted all religions in Kuwait are respected and the people of Kuwait respect other inhabitants with their customs traditions and cultures reports Al- Shahed daily.
On the request of the Papal Nuncio to the Vatican to expand the church in Kuwait Ambassador Al-Khubaizi said the church is located in a very narrow site which is sandwiched between residential and commercial sites so the expansion is difficult and it's a historical site.
Regarding information that British authorities will summon the father of Mohammed Emwazi for questioning in Britain Al- Khubaizi said 'we have no knowledge of this as Emwazi family including the father hold British citizenship and it is natural that the British Embassy would summon one of its citizens.
