Dubai — A 31-year-old man who committed an indecent public act by getting too close to a female tourist in a mall to pleasure himself has been sentenced to three months in jail.

The defendant claimed in court that he was unaware of the incident.
The incident happened on November 7 last year.
The complainant a 48-year-old tourist from the Netherlands told the police she was watching the water show at a mall when she felt someone touching her from behind. “The place was very crowded. I turned around and saw the defendant standing right behind me. He pressed his body against mine while moving it.
“I slapped him on his shoulder. But he fled the place. I reported the incident to the mall’s security guards.”
About an hour later she spotted the defendant at the same place and informed the guards which led to his arrest. Her statement could not be taken by the public prosecution as she had left the country.
