(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Alternative medicine practitioner accused of sexually assaulting woman

Dubai — A 47-year-old alternative medicine practitioner allegedly sexually assaulted a patient when she visited him at his place seeking therapy for painful menstrual periods a court heard.

According to prosecution records the Indian identified as S.K. took advantage that the patient also Indian trusted him and abused his position to grope and touch her inappropriately on several occasions.

S.K. is also facing in the Court of First Instance the charge of practicing medicine at his house without acquiring the required licence. The incident allegedly happened on November 23 last year.

The complainant 22 said in the prosecution investigation that S.K. was known to practice alternative medicine back home. “He treated patients by giving them massage sessions and my father used to visit him regularly in the clinic in Jumeirah as he suffered shoulder pain”.

In her statement she said S.K. left his work at the clinic and started receiving patients in his residence in Al Quoz and was planning to open a private centre later.

“My father then asked him to train in alternative medicine so I could be his assistant. And I began to visit S.K. at his house for training. I used to examine some of his patients under his supervision”.

In November last year the complainant began suffering from cramps and she sought S.K.’s help as his treatment would help relieve her muscles.

She said he gave her three sessions. He would begin by touching her forehead and then would gradually start groping her.

By the time he would start touching her inappropriately she would become semiconscious as S.K. was good in getting the body to relax.

When he asked her to do the fourth session she realised he was sexually assaulting her and breaching her modesty and so she reported him to the police.

Even though S.K. claimed in the interrogation that he could have touched the woman’s private part by mistake he later claimed in the investigation that his groping and touching of the complainant was part of the treatment. The court adjourned the hearing to May 3.
