PDO holds passing out ceremony for 362 Omani vocational trainees


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) on Monday held a passing out ceremony for 362 vocational trainees under the patronage of H E Dr Mohammed bin Hamad al Ruhmi Minister of Oil and Gas.

The Omanis will now join PDO contractors as mechanical electrical and instrument technicians welders and pipe fitters.

 

To boost the government's Omanisation initiative  PDO also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Manpower (MoM). As per the agreement both the parties will encourage Omanisation in the oil and gas sector and related industries. This will be achieved through training and provision of more job opportunities for citizens.

Addressing the gathering H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdullah al Bakri Minister of Manpower praised the strong ties between PDO and the ministry in terms of providing skilled jobs for Omani youth.

He described the agreement as a model of cooperation between the two sides. 'We look forward to continuing to work closely with PDO in future to achieve our shared goals' H E Bakri said.

The 362 Omanis have undergone a 18-month training programme at specialist institutes in Oman.
