Entertaining audiences from all over the world for the last thirty years legendary singer songwriter Billy Joel is renowned for his classical training as well as his admiration of Broadway. He has put his own unique spin on Rock and Roll music. Today he continues to travel the world and fans of all ages adore his music.

Born in the Bronx in 1949 he grew up and moved around the suburb of Long Island. During most of his adolescence he was studying piano and when he saw the Beatles perform on Ed Sullivan he decided he too wanted a music career. Before he went out on his own he joined a variety of groups including The Lost Souls as well as The Hassles and Attila. During 73 he signed up with Columbia and as they say in he music business the rest is history. Shortly thereafter he was sought out by label exec Clive Davis. He released his first album under this label. The album Piano Man  which also includes famous hit “Piano Man”. To date it’s his most popular single song ever.

Interestingly it was the release of his song The Stranger in 77 that finally launched him to superstardom. This album includes such singles as ‘Just The Way You Are” as well as ‘Movin’ Out’. Add that to Only The Good Die Young and you had a top album before it was released. Each of these songs would earn their way to the Top 25 for the Billboards. Winning his first Grammy in 79 for single “Just The Way You Are” he went on to win record of the year as well as song of the year. With all this success it was the single ‘It’s Still Rock N Roll To Me’ would be off of 52nd Street and was his first number one single hit. With a total of 33 songs that made the Top 40 he had three that hit number-one.

Billy Joel is one of the great songwriters of the era and his performances are terrific.
