(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) On the instructions of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to coordinate and unite efforts with all scholarship authorities in the state to preserve resources and achieve the desired objectives of scholarships, a meeting was held in the Ministry's headquarters in Abu Dhabi with all local and federal scholarship authorities, where the National Scholarship Database was activated.
The meeting came in line with the wise leadership's vision aimed at having a national cadre with the capabilities and resources necessary to build a sustainable knowledge-based economy compatible with the UAE Vision 2021.
In attendance were representatives of the Office of Scholarships in the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Tawazun, and Abu Dhabi Police Education Department, the General Command of the Armed Forces, the academic learning unit in UAE University and the Crown Prince's Court.
Attending from the Ministry were Fatima Al Zaabi, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for Higher Education and Scientific Research Affairs, Hanan Al Ameri, Acting Director of the Scholarship and Cultural Foreign Relations Department and Amro Jaber, Deputy Director of the Information Technology Department.
The National Scholarship Database provides information about Emirati scholars, to feed policies and scholarship programmes of the state, and contains, in addition to all the information concerning students, more than 20 fixed analytical reports to enable the relevant decision-makers to draw up their policies and future plans based on solid and accurate information.
The database constitutes an essential arm of the Ministry's electronic scholarship system launched for all Emirati scholars, which in turn has recently won the best m-Government Service Award.
