UAQ Ruler briefed on UAE Space Agency's plans, missions and objectives


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, today received a delegation from the UAE Space Agency.

H.H. Sheikh Saud was briefed by the delegation on the objectives of its establishment and missions as well as its contributions in enhancing the Emirati space sector within the national economy to be a knowledge based economy in the coming years.

The delegation led by Dr. Khalifa Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Chairman of the Board and the Emirates Space Agency, said that launching the agency represents the huge achievements attained by the country in the space field over the past three decades.

He added that the investment volume in this field has reached AED20 billion and the country managed to develop space telecom software, and the manufacture and launch of satellite technology.

The delegation also reiterated that it will work on organising and supporting the Emirati space sector through the establishment of international partnerships and promoting other related projects.

It also gave a detailed presentation on the Mars probe mission, which will make the UAE the first Arab and Islamic country to reach another planet.

A number of Sheikhs attended the meeting.
