Emirati who passed information to Iranians jailed for three years

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) A man who passed on information about the government body he worked for to Iranian agents has been jailed for three years by the Federal Supreme Court.

Abdulsalam Al Baloushi, 43, an Emirati, disclosed the information about the entity and its employees to intelligence agents at the Consulate of Iran in Dubai, reported a local daily.

In exchange, he was given discounted medical treatments in The Iranian Hospital, the court heard.

He was previously accused of spying and communicating with the members of the consulate, while providing confidential information such as names and personal numbers.

However, his charges were amended earlier this month.

The defendant denied the charges, saying his job for the entity involved sports-related activities and the information he gave out could have been found in the media.
