(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait's sixth session of the Holy Koran International Recitation and Memorization Award, patronized by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, got underway here on Monday.
The inaugural ceremony, attended by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and organized by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, began with the National Anthem, Koranic recitation, followed by a statement by Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Yaqoub Al-Sanea. Then, Dr. Adel Al-Falah, the ministry's undersecretary and the award supreme committee chairman, addressed the gathering.
His Highness the Premier, who spoke at the end of the ceremony, affirmed His Highness the Amir's support for the award, all activities that promote true values of Islam, its message of tolerance, encouragement for moderation and Koranic memorization.
His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak expressed satisfaction at the outcomes of the award sessions and praised the ministry's tremendous efforts.
The ceremony was also attended by Minister of State for Housing Affairs Yasser Abul, Advisor at His Highness the Premier's Diwan Sheikh Dr. Salem Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, ambassadors of Arab and Islamic nations, senior officials of the State and the Premier's Diwan
