Qatar- QF honoured for Sport Day activities


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Foundation (QF) has been honoured by the Ministry of Youth and Sports for successful organisation of activities to celebrate National Sport Day.

The accolade reflects QF's commitment to hold sporting activities for all ages, attracting over 11,500 participants.

Almost 50 day-long activities were held at Education City, supporting QF's mission to promote productive change through projects and programmes, including healthy living through sports in line with goals and objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.

Engineer Saad Al Muhannadi, President, QF, said, "We are delighted to have received this award which recognises QF's dedication to encouraging men, women and children of all ages to lead healthier lifestyles and become more active."

Its leadership supported the celebrations with participation by Father Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson, QF.

The ministry prepared guidelines and criteria for organisations when planning activities. These included activities that appeal to a cross section of the community, are cost-effective and show how to successfully promote healthy living.

QF was commended by the ministry for adhering to guidelines for organising a healthy and fun-filled day.

Minister of Youth and Sports H E Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser Al Ali presented the ministry's award to Mohammed Al Naimi, Chairman, QF's National Sport Day Committee.

The highlight of activities at QF was the walkathon through Education City. Under the theme 'Unlock Your Inner Athlete', each stage of the 3.8km route included educational activities to inspire people to lead healthier, more active lifestyles and learn about Education City.
