(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) has welcomed the decision of FIFA's Executive Committee in relation to the timing of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
In a press statement released today, SC said: "We welcome the decision of FIFA's Executive Committee in relation to the timing of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. We are satisfied the process has reached its conclusion. "Regardless of the change in dates, we will continue to develop the cooling technology promised during the bid, ensuring our commitment to deliver a true legacy as a result of the first World Cup in the Middle East remains."
On Thursday, FIFA announced after its executive committee made the
decision that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be played in November and December with the final taking place on December 18. "I can confirm the executive committee today, based on the proposal of the task force...decided that, yes, we are going to play in November and December and, yes, the final is going to be played on Dec. 18," FIFA spokesman Walter De Gregorio said at the organization's headquarters in Zurich.
