Blackberry logs profit of USD28m in Q4


(MENAFN) Smartphone-maker BlackBerry announced posting a surprised profit in the fourth quarter of last year, but saw a sharp drop-off in revenue, Arab News reported.

The Waterloo-Ontario- based company said it earned a total of USD28 million in profits, or 5 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 4 cents per share.

The Canadian company's revenue came at USD660 million, a decline of 33 percent compared to USD976 million a year earlier, but less than the USD833.1 million losses expected.

For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to USD304 million, while revenue was reported as USD3.34 billion compared USD6.8 billion the year before.
