Qatar- Festival hosts 'Dinner in the Sky'

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The sixth Qatar International Food Festival, organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and Qatar Airways (QA), hosted a delegation from Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs at a 'Dinner in the Sky' event.

QTA was represented by Hamad Al Khaja and QA by Nabeela Fakhri, Senior Vice-President, HR Employee Services. 'Dinner in the Sky' offered mouthwatering dishes prepared by QA's celebrity chefs with a Business Class taste of hospitality.

It gave visitors a chance to experience the feeling of dining on a flying kitchen, with a spectacular bird's eye view of Doha and its landmarks 60 metres above the ground, from 5pm to 10pm. From 2pm to 5pm guests enjoyed delicious appetisers and premium tea.

Several social media competitions have also been launched as part of the festival. The contests have inspired festival visitors to post thousands of images and messages throughout the five-day event via Instagram and Twitter. The competition entitled 'Take a Picture of Your Family While They Cook' offered participants the chance to win prizes, including a visit for two to Qatar and tickets to attend the 'Dinner in the Sky'. The visit consists of free tickets and free five-star hotel accommodation with breakfast.

Participants posted a group picture of their family while they prepared delicious recipes at home, as the contest aimed to help them showcase their families' cooking skills and highlight the spirit of solidarity and teamwork in preparing and cooking together.

A second competition entitled 'A Different Side of Turkish Cooking' allowed participants to show creativity by taking a photo of the Turkish corner at the festival and uploading it to Instagram. The participant with the best photo will win two tickets to Turkey, with a hotel stay.

Participants in both competitions were 18 or over, and their social media contributions included the festival's hashtag #QIFF2015. Both competitions ended yesterday and results will be announced today.

QTA also hosted 'Be Part of the QIFF Cookbook' on Instagram, where participants shared favourite Qatari recipes or smart cooking tips by posting in the comments section.
