Japan's consumer prices rise at slower pace in February

(MENAFN) According to the Japanese government, consumer prices in the country rose at a slower rate of 2 percent in February from a year earlier due to plunging oil prices, Xinhua reported.

The rate dropped from the 2.2-percent rise in January and has slowed for the seventh consecutive month, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said.

Excluding the effect of a sales tax increase in April, the inflation rate would be zero in February - well below the 2-per-cent target set by the Bank of Japan in April 2013.
