Saudi military command announces success of 1st phase of "Decisive Storm"

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Saudi Military Command of "The Decisive Storm Operation" said Thursday the first phase of the operations in Yemen was "fully successful." The targets destroyed include Houthi air defense bases and SAM anti-aircraft launch pads, the Spokesman for operation Brigadier Ahmad Asiri said in a press conference.

He ruled out any intention for a ground operation in Yemen at present, but noted that all troops are on standby for any emergency.

Brig. Asiri said there were some advancements made by Houthi militias toward the southern borders of the Kingdom but the Saudi forces responded appropriately and prevented their progress.

He affirmed that the ongoing operations are being conducted in a concerted and integrated manner among all participating forces.

The spokesman stressed that operations will continue until they achieve the set goals, namely, to help the Yemeni people to get rid of the Houthi rebels, enable the legitimate president to reinstate his government, and restore order and work for the development of the Republic of Yemen.

Brig. Asiri added that all types of aircraft were involved in the operations that have been carried out in coordination with the legitimate government.
