Palestinian gov't, faction leaders meet in Gaza


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Prime Minister of the Palestinian national concord government Dr. Rami Al-Hamad and members of his cabinet started Wednesday night meeting leaders of the Palestinian factions in Gaza Strip.

The first of such meetings was held with representatives of Hamas Movement, ruling in the Strip.

It dealt with a range of problems suffered by the Gazans due to the Israeli siege on the Strip, Khalil Al-Hayyah, member of Hamas Politburo, told KUNA.

"We listened to the Prime Minister's views and plans for solving such problems as the reconstruction, power shortage and the payments in arrears for civil servants in the Strip," Al-Hayyah disclosed.

"The Prime Minister promised that his government will spare no effort in addressing the ordeal of the Gazans as early as possible," he said.

The two sides reached agreement to form technical committee for solving each of the vital issues affecting the daily life in the Strip, he added.

Meanwhile, Minister of Public Works and Housing Mufid Al-Hasaina said the meeting set the priorities of action in the coming stage foremost among which are the salaries of the employees and the process to integrate the civil servants in the payrolls of the Ramallah-based government.

On his part, spokesman of the government Ihab Al-Besiso said the government does not discriminate between employees in Gaza and those in the West Bank.

"We came here to find substantive and radical, not partial, solutions to the suffering of the people in the Strip," he affirmed, welcoming the tone and atmosphere of the talks with Hamas leaders.

Al-Besiso called on the factions in Gaza to provide the necessary conditions for the national concord government to address the crises and challenges brought about by the aggressions of the Israeli occupation authorities. (pickup previous) wab.gb
